Bib’s Downtown serves barbeque. If you’re from North Carolina, the first question you’ll probably have goes something like this; “What style is it, Eastern NC or Western NC?” Its neither; and maybe a little of both. It’s what pitmaster and partner Mark Little calls “Bestern”.
If pedigree is any indicator of a food authority, you have the first good reason to accept Mark’s BBQ categorization. A North Carolina native, he comes from a long and wide line of cooks. The second good reason to accept it is the food is delicious.
The Bib’s Downtown menu is packed with barbecued and smoked meats. You’ll find pulled pork, turkey breast, chicken, sausages, beef brisket, ribs, and even meatloaf. The grilled pimento cheese sandwich and smoked chicken quesadilla are nice surprises. For those who choose the non-carnivore way, there’s a veggie plate. Desserts are made fresh daily and include banana pudding, seasonal cobblers, and homemade cakes. Make a beverage choice from wine, beer, soft drinks, tea, lemonade and root beer. There’s a kid’s menu for the children. Another nice touch is kid’s plates are half-price from 4pm to 7pm Monday through Thursday.
If you are looking for a banquet room for an event or celebration, Bib’s offers The Hickory Room. Its warm atmosphere and ample amenities feature local saw cut wood trim with stone walls and a fireplace. It seats up to 100. You’ll also find it to be more reasonably priced than many comparable facilities.
Bib’s Downtown is a locally owned restaurant, and located on at 675 W. Fifth Street. It’s easy to get to, and has plenty of convenient parking.
